Red Diamond rarity sounds like the sort of change Diamond Dynasty players notice right away, because it gives the top end of MLB The Show 26 a cleaner identity. Instead of every strong card being tossed into the same Diamond bucket, the new 95 OVR-and-up tier makes it easier to spot the cards that are meant to sit above the pack. That matters when you're saving packs, checking the market, or deciding whether your MLB 26 stubs should go toward a short-term upgrade or a card that might stay in your lineup for weeks.

What Red Diamond actually changes
The idea is pretty simple. Red Diamond cards are built for the best items in Diamond Dynasty, starting at 95 overall. A regular Diamond can still be useful, of course. Plenty of lower-rated cards play above their number because of swings, pitch mixes, quirks, or just how they feel in-game. But Red Diamond gives SDS a visible way to say, "This one is different." You won't need to dig through menus quite as much to know when a card is being treated as a major reward.

Why players will care about the 95 OVR line
That 95 OVR cutoff is the big part. It creates a real step between good cards and premium cards. Early in the game cycle, a 95 can feel like a monster. Later on, when lineups get stacked, the Red Diamond tag may still help players sort through the noise. It also makes progression feel less flat. You grind a program, win games, finish collections, and there's a clearer prize waiting at the top instead of just another blue Diamond glow that blends in with everything else.

Collections, packs, and the market get more interesting
Collectors will probably feel the change as much as ranked players. A Red Diamond reveal gives people something specific to chase, talk about, and compare. Is the card actually worth locking in? Does the swing play well on higher difficulties? Is the pitcher's pitch mix nasty enough, or is the overall doing too much of the selling? Those are the conversations that drive the mode. And once a Red Diamond card hits packs or a reward path, you can bet the market will react fast.

How it could shape the way squads are built
The meta won't be decided by rarity alone, and experienced players know that. A 95 OVR card with awkward attributes can still get benched, while a lower-rated fan favourite might keep starting because the swing is money. Still, Red Diamond cards will get tested first. They'll show up in Ranked Seasons, co-op squads, events, and content breakdowns. Smart players won't just chase the label, though. They'll look at contact splits, clutch, fielding, stamina, pitch control, and price before spending MLB stubs on a card that fits their team instead of just their collection screen.
