A lot of raiders ignore ARC Motion Core until a workbench recipe suddenly asks for it, and then the scramble starts. It sits in that awkward middle space between loot you pick up from wrecked machines and the cleaner materials you need for serious upgrades. If you're already sorting weapons, parts, and ARC Raiders BluePrints after each run, it's worth giving Motion Cores their own mental slot. They're not just "another ARC drop." They're the kind of item that keeps your crafting moving when basic scraps stop being enough.
Quick route map
  • Learn what ARC Motion Core is used for
  • Farm stronger ARC units instead of weak patrols
  • Use Refiner II when drops don't go your way
  • Recycle only when ARC Alloy is the real bottleneck
  • Save a small reserve for late-game recipes
Where Motion Cores usually come from
You'll mostly see ARC Motion Core linked to ARC enemies and tougher field activities. Regular scavenging can help, sure, but the better results tend to come from places where the machines hit harder and the risk feels real. Combat-heavy zones, ARC-focused missions, and high-threat encounters are the runs to watch. Don't expect every enemy to cough one up. That's not how it works. The smarter play is to target stronger units, clear objectives that involve ARC tech, and leave with the haul instead of getting greedy for one more fight.
Crafting and recycling value
The useful thing about ARC Motion Core is that it isn't locked into one purpose. You can craft it at Refiner II by spending 8 ARC Alloy, which gives you a way to build stock even when enemy drops are being stingy. On the other hand, if you've got too many Motion Cores and you're short on Alloy, recycling can pull you out of a bad crafting spot. It's a small choice, but it matters. Players often waste rare parts because they craft on impulse, then realise another upgrade needed the base material.
How to farm without wasting runs
Bring gear that lets you finish the fight quickly, not just survive it. That sounds obvious, but it's where many players lose time. If you're burning ammo, armour, and healing items for one possible drop, the run probably isn't efficient. Pick routes with several ARC spawns close together. Check mission rewards before heading out. If an activity has ARC involvement and sits in a harder area, it's usually a better bet than wandering low-level ground. Also, don't recycle every Motion Core the second you need Alloy. Keep a few tucked away, because higher-tier weapon parts and specialised equipment can ask for them when you least expect it.
Why it matters later on
ARC Motion Core becomes more important as your crafting goals get sharper. Early on, you can get by with common materials and whatever you drag back from a run. Later, upgrades ask for cleaner parts, advanced components, and a bit more planning. That's when a steady Core supply saves you from stalled progress. It also helps you make better calls with your wider economy, especially when you're balancing materials, upgrades, and ARC Coins across several crafting needs instead of dumping everything into the first shiny recipe you see.
